ALABAMA

Montgomery call center wants to hire 398
A California-based call center wants to triple its Montgomery workforce as the coronavirus pandemic creates a surge in demand. Alorica employs about 200 people in Alabama’s capital city, and the company originally said it wanted to hire about 50 more over the next few months. Now, Alorica says it wants to hire 398 more people in Montgomery right away.

 

ARKANSAS

Cynergy Cargo opens plant In South Arkansas
Cynergy Cargo, an enclosed cargo trailer manufacturer headquartered in Douglas, Ga., is building a new facility in Crossett, Ark. The company plans to hire 70 new, full-time employees within 24 months.

Alleviant Health Centers expands headquarters in Little Rock, 115 jobs added
Alleviant Health Centers, an operator of mental health clinics across the U.S., will expand its headquarters in Little Rock, Ark. In addition to maintaining its corporate operations of 20 employees, the company will add 115 corporate jobs.

 

FLORIDA

Aerospace firm to invest $300 million, create 675 jobs in Melbourne, Fla.
Gov. Ron DeSantis  announced that Aerion Supersonic will construct a new state-of-the-art campus—Aerion Park—in Melbourne. Aerion Park will form a new global headquarters and campus for research, design, build and maintenance of the company’s supersonic aircraft. The campus will be used to construct the company’s new AS2 Supersonic Business Jet that could fly at speeds up to 1,000 miles per hour. The project involves a multi-year $300 million investment that is expected to generate at least 675 jobs by 2026.

Forcura plans new HQ in Jacksonville
Forcura, a healthcare technology company, plans to invest $2.15 million to open its new headquarters and create 115 jobs in Jacksonville, Fla.

PGT Innovations expands in Florida
PGT Innovations, a manufacturer of windows and doors, is expanding its workforce in Florida to fill over 150 positions throughout its manufacturing plants in North Venice, Hialeah, Miami and Tampa.

 

GEORGIA

Singapore-based biotech plans $260 million expansion in Athens, Ga.
Singapore-based biotechnology company RWDC Industries will invest $260 million to expand its operations into a 400,000-square-foot facility in Athens. The project is expected to create 200 jobs in Clarke County. Founded in an innovation lab at the University of Georgia in 2015, RWDC Industries has emerged as a global leader in developing cost-effective alternatives to single-use plastics.

Biggest project ever for Columbia County, Ga.
Amazon is building a new fulfillment center in Appling, Ga., just outside of Augusta.
Governor Brian Kemp says this means more than 800 new jobs. “This project represents the largest single investment and job creation in any commercial project we have announced,” said Robbie Bennett, director of the county’s development authority. “Today is a very good day for Columbia County.”

Microsoft confirms 1,500-job expansion in Midtown Atlanta
Microsoft will open a new office in Atlanta, a $75 million investment that will create 1,500 jobs. The software giant is putting the technology unit in Midtown, where it will focus on artificial intelligence and cloud services.

Cyber firm will bring jobs to Augusta
Virginia-based Perspecta, a cyberspace firm, will locate its regional headquarters at the Georgia Cyber Center at Fort Gordon in Augusta. The project will create 178 jobs to provide support services to the U.S. Army Cyber Command.

Chinese flooring maker to create 315 jobs in Georgia
Huali Floors will set up its U.S. headquarters and a manufacturing facility in Murray County, Ga., and create at least 315 jobs. The Chinese flooring company will invest more than $27 million in an existing facility there.

Norfolk Southern officially announces the relocation of its headquarters to Atlanta
Norfolk Southern officially announced what everyone already knew in the spring quarter — that it is relocating its headquarters from Virginia to downtown Atlanta. The railroad is relocating hundreds of jobs over the course of a couple of years.

Belgian pharma to expand U.S. campus in Smyrna, Ga.
Belgium-based pharmaceutical firm UCB, which produces medicines to treat neurological diseases, will invest $47.5 million to expand its 47-acre U.S. headquarters campus in Smyrna. The project is expected to create 100 jobs in Cobb County.

 

KENTUCKY

Rajant to expand in Rowan County, Ky.
Kentucky continues attracting new business investment as Rajant Corp., the provider of Kinetic Mesh® wireless networks, plans a $2 million relocation and expansion project in Rowan County expected to create 26 additional full-time jobs in the coming years.

PRCO America to build refractory plant in Graves County
Governor Andy Beshear announced that PRCO America, a manufacturer of specialty refractory brick for the steel industry, plans to open its first U.S. production facility next year in Graves County, a nearly $5.5 million investment expected to create up to 32 full-time jobs. “The opportunity to announce PRCO America’s first U.S. facility in West Kentucky comes at a welcome time as we reopen businesses, reinvigorate the economy across the Commonwealth and continue to create good-paying jobs for Kentuckians,” Gov. Beshear said. “Kentucky’s many attractive qualities — including our workforce and, for this development, our proximity to U.S. steel mills — will continue attracting jobs and investment.”

 

LOUISIANA

South Louisiana rail facility to develop rice mill in Jeff Davis Parish
The South Louisiana Rail Facility (SLRF) will develop an $11.6 million rice mill at the Lacassine Industrial Park in Jefferson Davis Parish. The new project will create seven new direct jobs, and SLRF will invest $10 million to equip the new facility, with construction slated to begin in September 2020.

Marketing agency to create 100 new jobs in Baton Rouge
The Baton Rouge-based digital marketing agency, Click Here Digital, will create 100 new jobs and move its corporate headquarters to a new facility in Baton Rouge along I-12.

Italian company to establish manufacturing facility in New Orleans
A packaging film manufacturer, Iriapak, announced in the spring it will invest $7 million in a new facility in Eastern New Orleans. The company makes packaging for home paper products. The project will create 25 full-time jobs.

 

MISSISSIPPI

FedEx Ground to hire 400 in Olive Branch, Miss.
FedEx Ground announced it will fill 400 package handler positions in Olive Branch. With people around the country confined to their homes, FedEx Ground has seen a boost. In a March 16th earnings call, executives noted there had been a strong demand for the business segment, especially home delivery.

Large solar farm being built in rural Mississippi
Recurrent Energy announced in the spring it will build the largest utility-owned solar farm in the state of Mississippi. The company is building the facility for Entergy Mississippi on 1,000 acres in Sunflower County. The project will be complete in 2022.

 

MISSOURI

Pipe manufacturer to expand in Missouri
Tyler Pipe, a manufacturer of pipe and fittings for the plumbing industry, is investing $4.9 million to expand its plant in Marshfield, Mo. The deal will create 75 jobs.

 

NORTH CAROLINA

Raleigh company to create more than 1,000 jobs
Raleigh, N.C.-based Bandwidth announced in the spring it will invest $100 million in a major expansion of its Research Triangle facilities. The project includes a new headquarters and more than 1,000 new jobs. Bandwidth sells software to technology firms for message and voice
applications.

Cabinet manufacturer investing $86 million near Charlotte
GoldenHome International, a subsidiary of a Chinese company, is investing $86 million to establish a factory in the old Philip Morris site in Concord, N.C. The company manufactures kitchen cabinets and other furnishings. The deal will create 257 jobs.

Another new facility for Amazon; this one in North Carolina
Seattle-based Amazon is opening another new facility in the South. The company will open a delivery station that supports last mile deliveries in Cary, N.C. The deal will create hundreds of jobs.

Amazon plans North Carolina delivery station
Amazon plans to locate a 112,000-square-foot delivery center 20 miles south of Asheville in Mills River, N.C. The company plans to create 200 jobs to work in the $28 million facility that will be constructed on 28 acres. Amazon packages are transported from fulfillment hubs to delivery centers where they are sorted before being placed onto trucks to be delivered to customers.

Belgian manufacturer opens first U.S. site in North Carolina
A Belgium-based company that manufactures disposable hygiene products, Ontex Group, will locate a $96 million plant in Rockingham County, N.C. The project is expected to create more than 400 jobs.

Charlotte Pipe moving to Stanly County, N.C.
Charlotte Pipe and Foundry is officially moving to Stanly County after spending more than 100 years in Charlotte. The company’s board of directors “made a determination that it is in the best interest of the company” to build a new, state-of-the-art foundry on a 428-acre property in Oakboro, N.C., in Stanly County. Charlotte Pipe selected its new location after a two-year process, and will invest at least $325 million in the new foundry.

 

OKLAHOMA

Cannabis company expands operations in OKC
Stability Cannabis has expanded its indoor cannabis cultivation facility in Oklahoma City. The company’s expansion includes construction of an additional 22,000 square feet of cannabis flowering rooms, employee facilities, packaging facilities and additional state-of-the-art filtration and lighting systems. The project involves a $4 million investment and will create 40 new jobs.

OKC closer to 1,000-job deal
A $3 million tax incentive package has been approved in an effort to lure a Costco administrative office to Oklahoma City. The members-only retailer is considering the city as the site for a back office call center operation that would create 1,044 new, non-sales-related jobs with an average annual wage of $59,740.

Port secures funds for rail project
The Muskogee City-County Port Authority board of directors has authorized the execution of a grant acceptance agreement with the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant, known as the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant, totaled $5,789,210 and will go toward rail access improvements at the Port of Muskogee. Projects include track upgrades and expansion among others.

 

SOUTH CAROLINA

Carolina Panthers owner nets large incentive package for the team’s new headquarters in South Carolina
Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper has secured $160 million in incentives from the state of South Carolina for the team’s new headquarters in Rock Hill. Along with the state, York County is now set to include a local package of $225 million to the team, which will essentially fund the building of the Panthers facility there.

Ross Stores to expand distribution center in South Carolina
Ross Stores will invest $68 million to expand its distribution operations in York County, S.C. The deal will create 700 new jobs.

Ruiz Foods expands Florence, S.C., plant
Ruiz Foods is expanding its plant in Florence, S.C., by opening an additional production line. The new line will manufacture a variety of El Monterey products. The project will create 200 new jobs.

 

TENNESSEE

Five hundred new jobs for Johnson City, Tenn., region
According to a release from Ballad Health, a new partnership with Ensemble Health Partners (a healthcare revenue management company) will result in up to 500 new jobs coming to the Tri-Cities region through a new regional operations service center. “We could place our newest regional operations service center anywhere, but we chose the Appalachian Highlands as a place we want to invest, grow and become part of the fabric of the community,” Ensemble CEO Judson Ivy said, adding that the region’s access to education, low cost of living and work ethic among citizens — along with an endorsement from Gov. Bill Lee — factored into the company’s decision to partner with Ballad.

Healthcare firm to create over 400 jobs in Nashville
QTC Management, a disability and occupational health examiner for veterans, will invest $5 million to open a location in Nashville. The deal will create 410 jobs.

 

TEXAS

El Paso call center adding 500 jobs due to COVID-related surge
An Iowa company plans to open a second call center in El Paso, bringing about 500 new jobs this summer.
Thomas L. Cardella & Associates, known as TLC Associates, has seen an increase in its business due to the coronavirus, but will also have to add more space to meet social-distancing requirements.

Electric motor company to hire 1,200 in Texas
Linear Labs will build a 500,000-square-foot facility in Fort Worth. The company makes electric motors. The deal is expected to create 1,200 jobs.

Texas Instruments moves ahead with $850 million project in Richardson
Texas Instruments is moving forward with plans to build a new semiconductor plant in Richardson. The Dallas-based chip maker recently completed a parking structure and is proceeding with an estimated $850 million in construction.

Amazon is at it again in Texas
Amazon is locating a new fulfillment center in Fort Bend County, Texas. The deal will create about 1,000 jobs.

Amazon hiring 1,500 at new site in Texas
Amazon is opening another fulfillment center in Dallas-Fort Worth. The 855,000-square-foot facility will be the first to open in Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the opening of DAL3, Amazon plans to hire more than 1,500 full-time positions.

Lockheed Martin hiring in Texas
In April, one of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro’s largest employers hired 166 people for its plant and plans to hire 700 more this summer. Lockheed Martin fully assembles the F-35 fighter jet at its facilities in Fort Worth.

Financial services firm hiring 300 in Dallas-Fort Worth
Fidelity Investments is hiring 300 workers at its six offices in Dallas-Fort Worth as the company’s clients are trying to navigate the coronavirus financial disaster. Fidelity employs over 5,000 workers in Dallas-Fort Worth, including at its 332-acre campus in Westlake.

 

VIRGINIA

Big expansion for Microsoft in Reston
Microsoft will invest $64 million to establish a new research and development hub in Reston Town Center. The move will create 1,500 new jobs.

Ship repair company to hire 332 in Virginia
Maritime and ship repair company S23 Holdings will invest over $64 million to establish an industrial campus for ship repair in Newport News, Va. The project will create 332 jobs.

IT company to relocate its HQ to Richmond MSA
ASGN, a California-based IT firm, is relocating its headquarters to the Richmond MSA. The company will invest $12 million to move its headquarters, and will also create 700 jobs in several cities in Virginia. Virginia Beach will benefit with 147 new jobs in the city.

Manufacturer to open distribution center in Virginia
A manufacturer and distributor of tankless water heaters, Navien, is opening a distribution center in James City County, Va. The 300,000-square-foot facility will act as a distribution center for the first two years and then phase into a manufacturing plant. The project will create 180 jobs.

Manufacturer relocating to Virginia
Metalworx, a manufacturer of highly-engineered and precision-manufactured components, is investing over $7 million to move its operations to Grayson County, Va. The deal will create 59 new jobs.

 

WEST VIRGINIA

JWF Industries reopens factory in Danisville
Pennsylvania-based JWF Industries has reopened a factory, previously operated by Sunshine Metals, in Danisville. The project will expand production and milling of large aluminum plates and other items.
