Atlanta-based UPS creating 1,000 jobs In Kentucky

UPS plans to add 1,000 jobs in Louisville over the next 15 years by growing its Worldport global air hub, including adding a hangar that can fit two 747-8F aircraft, the largest in the UPS Airlines fleet.

 

Company working to fill more than 200 positions in Martinsville, Va.

More than $43 million in investment and 212 jobs are on the horizon in Martinsville and Henry County. Press Glass is in recruitment mode after announcing plans to set up shop there last summer — the first six employees have already been hired and now it’s time to fill the rest of the positions. Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the first business to build in Henry County’s Commonwealth Crossing Industrial Park.

 

Georgia company to open Charlotte call center, hiring 1,000

An Atlanta-based company will bring 1,000 jobs to Charlotte by the end of next year. Customer service company Chime Solutions, a minority-owned family business, plans to hire 400 employees in Charlotte by early October.

 

Apple will make the new Mac Pro in Austin

Apple will manufacture the next generation of its Mac Pro desktop computer in Austin, Texas. Most of Apple’s products, including the iPhone, are assembled in China and are facing tariff threats.

 

Amazon to hire 300 for air hub in DFW 

Amazon is set to open its regional air hub in October at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, and expects to hire 300 new full-time jobs as it reaches capacity. The air hub was designed to support the larger-scale regional needs of Amazon Air.

 

Macy’s West Virginia distribution center adding 6,000 jobs

The Macy’s fulfillment center in Martinsburg, W.Va., is hiring more than 6,000 people for full-time, part-time and seasonal positions. The new hires will be sorting, ticketing and packaging shipments for customers who ordered online and through the Macy’s mobile app.

 

New Braunfels lands 500-job with PNC 

PNC Bank has chosen New Braunfels, Texas, for a new operations site where the company expects to employ more than 550 workers once its fully functioning. 

 

Northrop Grumman lands $1.4 billion contract; work in Central Florida

Northrop Grumman recently secured one of the largest defense contracts awarded in Central Florida this year. Falls Church, Va.-based Northrop Grumman Corp. won a $1.4 billion modification to a U.S. Navy contract. The contract was awarded to Northrop Grumman’s Melbourne operations to produce and deliver nine E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft to Japan.

 

Metals startup announces new Houston factory

Toyota Tsusho America, the Japanese automaker’s supply chain arm, announced a joint venture with Modumetal, which will be named ModuTAI. They will establish a new production facility in Houston. The new company will make specialized alloy products for the oil and gas industry, and plans to expand into construction, marine and transportation markets.

 

Virginia aerospace manufacturer to add 75 jobs

A manufacturer of composite materials for aerospace and marine applications plans to expand its Virginia operations and add 75 new jobs at the facility. Eagle Aviation Technologies, whose composites are used in rotor blades and airframes, will invest $207,500 to add new equipment in Newport News, Va. The expansion would double Eagle’s current workforce.

 

New manufacturing facility to create 200 jobs in Seguin, Texas

A Michigan-based company is set to build a manufacturing facility that will create 200 new jobs for the city of Seguin. Continental Structural Plastics is making a capital investment of $70 million to construct the 200,000-square-foot facility that will produce lightweight composite solutions for the automotive, heavy truck, HVAC and construction industries.

 

Company to create 150 new jobs in Cobb County, Ga.

A New Jersey-based company will invest $4 million and create 150 jobs for a new facility it plans to open in southern Cobb County. U.S. Elogistic Service Corp., which offers e-commerce fulfillment services for companies selling products online, will open a new 500,000-square-foot distribution center in Austell, Ga.

 

Yachad expands in Selmer, Tenn.

Yachad will invest $602,000 and create 31 jobs to expand its operations in McNairy County, Tenn. Yachad provides distribution, warehousing and fulfillment services for Clear Bags, a California-based packaging company with operations in Selmer. Yachad will add 6,000 square feet of space to accommodate more customer service representatives.

 

Echo World Communications plans customer service center in Brunswick County, Va.

Echo World Communications, a newly formed company in Virginia, will invest $550,000 and hire 153 new employees to establish a customer service center in Brunswick County, Va. The company offers insurance products through several insurance carriers, handling thousands of service requests for Medicare, medical cost-sharing products and major medical insurance needs.

 

Pharmaceutical Product Development creating 200 jobs in Virginia

Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD) will invest $63.7 million to expand its bioanalytical lab in Henrico County and will ultimately create 200 jobs. PPD provides drug development, laboratory and lifecycle management services.

 

Labcorp to expand in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park

Just over a year since signing its first lease, a North Carolina life sciences company is expanding its presence by 50 percent in the former GlaxoSmithKline campus in Research Triangle Park. Burlington-based LabCorp announced a $30 million investment in the RTP campus in 2018. No word yet on how many jobs this latest expansion will create.

 

Manufacturer to expand In Pelham, Ala.

A Pelham manufacturer is investing more than $1 million in an expansion that will result in 16 new jobs. Extruflex is a European company that makes flexible vinyl strips and sheets for food production.

 

Injection molder Investing $3.7 million In Virginia

Injection molder Blue Ridge Industries will invest $3.7 million and hire 13 more employees at its manufacturing plant in Winchester, Va., where the female-owned company is based. Founded in 1985, BRI manufactures a wide variety of plastic parts for the automotive, construction, commercial goods and electronic enclosures markets.

 

Teal-Jones Group to invest $31 million in Virginia

British Columbia-based Teal-Jones Group will invest $31.75 million at two locations in Virginia. The company plans to expand sawmill and dry kiln operations at two recently acquired lumber mills in Martinsville and Kinsale. At Pine Products in Henry County, the company will invest $21 million and create 67 new jobs, and at Potomac Supply in Westmoreland County, the company will invest $10.75 million and create 59 new jobs. Teal-Jones has committed to source 100 percent of its new timber purchases from the Commonwealth.

 

Louisiana online retailer expands HQ

A Louisiana-based online retailer is expanding its headquarters and creating 50 new positions in Baton Rouge. BBQGuys specializes in grills and smokers, outdoor kitchens, patio furniture and other leisure products.

 

Airtech announces $13 million expansion in Tennessee

A Robertson County manufacturer will soon invest $13 million in its plant and add about 30 new jobs. Airtech, a vacuum bagging and composite tooling materials manufacturer, will expand in Robertson County The company serves many sectors, including aerospace and automotive.

 

New distribution warehouse means 150 jobs for Austell, Ga.

Austell is getting 150 new jobs with the opening of a global company’s first Southeast facility. New Jersey-based US Elogistics Service Corp. is investing $4 million in its new Austell distribution center, which will create 150 new warehouse jobs in the city. US Elogistics Service Corp is an e-commerce logistics solutions firm that helps other companies get products to online consumers.

 

Booz Allen Hamilton chooses Knoxville, Tenn., for R&D campus

Booz Allen Hamilton plans to locate its new Research and Development Center in Knoxville. The technology consulting firm expects to invest more than $3.6 million and create 52 new jobs in Knox County over the next five years. The facility will include engineering, prototyping and testing for a variety of technical systems.

 

Nippon Paint investing $60 million In Tennessee

Nippon Paint will invest approximately $60 million to establish a facility in Chattanooga. The company will create 150 jobs in Hamilton County as it expands its paint and coating products for automotive customers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

 

Lockheed Martin begins two new weapons factories in the South

Lockheed Martin broke ground in September on two new weapons factories in Alabama and Arkansas. A two-building facility in Courtland, Ala., will assemble, integrate and test hypersonic strike weapons. Over the next three years, Courtland will gain 72 jobs, while Huntsville, Ala., will add 200 management and engineering jobs with a $19 million expansion there. Lockheed Martin has also broken ground on the first part of a $142 million expansion at its southern Arkansas facility that is expected to create more than 300 new jobs.

 

Company creating jobs with Mecklenburg County, N.C., relocation

A local company that imports and sells residential plumbing products to commercial retailers will relocate within Mecklenburg County into a bigger facility and hire for more jobs. The Mosack Group, currently based in Matthews, will hire for 21 new jobs and invest $9.7 million at a new, 115,000-square-foot facility in Mint Hill. Mosack currently employs 50 people, who will be retained with the relocation in addition to the new jobs. 

 

Paint manufacturer to relocate in Mecklenburg County, N.C.

A company that produces sustainable paints and coatings to industries like construction and manufacturing machinery has plans to expand and relocate in Mecklenburg County. Teknos U.S., part of Finland-based Teknos, will embark on a $4.2 million expansion and create 25 new jobs.

 

Flexaust chooses North Carolina for new site

Flexaust, a manufacturer of industrial ducts and hoses, has chosen Burlington for its new Southeast manufacturing and distribution site, bringing nearly 50 jobs to the city. Indiana-based Flexaust plans to renovate a vacant textile mill, investing more than $4 million.

 

Navistar plans to build $250 million facility in San Antonio

Illinois-based Navistar, which makes commercial trucks, plans to spend more than $250 million to build a new manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas, delivering 600 new jobs to the area. The investment is contingent on finalization of various incentive packages.

 

Anuvia reopens Plant City, Fla., facility

Anuvia Plant Nutrients will utilize a portion of Mosaic Company’s shuttered phosphate production facility in Plant City. Anuvia, based in Zellwood, Fla., will hire 135 people to produce its own fertilizer, which is made mostly with recycled waste from food scraps and septic tanks. 

 

Walmart hiring 140 for Louisiana distribution

Walmart is hiring about 140 associates for its distribution facility in Hammond, La. The Hammond Distribution Center serves 124 Walmart stores throughout the region.

 

Conn’s opens massive distribution center in North Houston

Conn’s Home Plus has opened a massive distribution center in north Houston as the furniture, home appliance and electronics retailer looks to grow with the city’s population. The 656,000-square-foot facility -- roughly the size of 11 football fields — comes after Conn’s began working more than two years ago to consolidate its three Houston-area distribution centers and two corporate offices into a single building that would be more efficient to operate.

 

Conn’s selects Lakeland, Fla., for distribution center

Conn’s, specialty retailer of furniture, mattresses, home appliances and consumer electronics, has expanded into its 15th state, with a 413,000-square-foot logistics distribution center in Lakeland. According to company officials, the opening of the Conn's HomePlus Lakeland distribution center will create approximately 50 new full-time jobs.

 

UPS to expand Richmond distribution center

United Parcel Services (UPS) is looking to expand and modernize its distribution center in Richmond, Va. The Atlas Road site encompasses 63.3 acres and currently includes a 184,000-square-foot distribution center with an auto repair facility, customer service center and car wash.

 

Shurtape breaks ground on distribution center in North Carolina

Shurtape Technologies, a manufacturer of adhesive tape, has officially broken ground on a new distribution center in Catawba, N.C. The company expects to add 100 new positions at the $31 million center.

 

High Purity Systems announces $8 million expansion

High Purity Systems (HPS), which designs and manufactures mechanical piping systems, recently announced plans for an $8.5 million expansion to its facility in Manassas, Va. The project is expected to create 105 new jobs. High Purity Systems helps its clients make everything from vaccines to craft beer and distilled spirits by fabricating and installing the piping systems needed to manufacture them.

 

Block.one expanding to Virginia, bringing 200 jobs

Blockchain software developer Block.one plans to open a $10 million headquarters in Arlington, adding 170 jobs over the next three years.

 

Nail manufacturer to restore 200 jobs in Missouri

The nation’s largest producer of nails, located in Poplar Bluff, reportedly added 120 workers in recent months and plans to add about 80 more by the end of the year. Mid Continent Steel and Wire appears to be recovering after receiving a waiver from tariffs on the steel it imports from Mexico.

 

Apple awards Kentucky’s Corning $250 million

Apple recently said it would award Gorilla Glass maker Corning $250 million from a $5 billion fund dedicated to U.S. advanced manufacturing. Corning supplies glass to Apple for products such as the iPhone and Apple Watch. Since the first iPhones hit the market in 2007, the glass on every iPhone sold has been produced at Corning’s plant in Harrodsburg, Ky.

 

Georgia solar manufacturing plant will be North America’s largest

The Hanwha Q Cells factory in Dalton, Ga., represents a boost to domestic manufacturing and a positive result of the tariffs. Hanwha Q Cells USA marked the completion recently of the largest solar module manufacturing plant in North America, which will produce enough solar panels to generate as much peak power as the Hoover Dam every year. The company's initial plans for a $150 million plant with 500 employees grew since its announcement last year into a $200 million investment with 650 employees.

 

Hyundai to invest another $292 million in Alabama plant

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) recently announced that it’s preparing to invest nearly $300 million more in new machinery and equipment for its factory there. The money will help with production of the redesigned Elantra and Santa Fe vehicles as well as the company’s new, more fuel-efficient Theta engine. Back in June, HMMA celebrated the opening of its new cylinder head manufacturing plant. The 260,000-square-foot facility represents a $388 million investment and 50 new jobs.

 

Policygenius to hire hundreds in North Carolina

Policygenius, a fast-growing online insurance platform, will locate a new technical and operations center in Durham County, creating at least 377 jobs over the next five years. The company will invest nearly $6 million in Durham.

 

Intuit launches Prosperity Hub in West Virginia

The California-based makers of TurboTax and QuickBooks are bringing 200 to 500 jobs to West Virginia. Intuit has officially launched a “prosperity hub” in Bluefield, W.Va.

 

Intuit and Sykes announce 300 new jobs in Perry County, Ky.

State and local officials gathered at the Perry County Public Library recently to celebrate the announcement of a partnership between Intuit and SYKES (a call center company), which is expected to bring a minimum of 300 full-time customer service jobs to Perry County’s Coal Fields Regional Industrial Park.

 

Steel fabricator expands Georgia plant

RAI Industrial Fabricators will build a new state-of-the-art steel fabrication facility, creating 30 new jobs and investing $20 million in Martin Bridge, Ga. Headquartered in Athens, Ga., this new facility will double the capacity of RAI’s existing operation there.

 

Ericsson to locate smart phone factory in Lewisville, Texas

Swedish telecom company Ericsson plans to open its first U.S. factory in North Texas, and it will be a smart factory that makes equipment for 5G technology. Ericsson will open the 300,000-square-foot factory in Lewisville in early 2020 to manufacture advanced antenna system radios for the next-generation wireless network. The factory will be “smart” because of its many digitized and connected features, and will have automated warehouses and assembly and use of autonomous carts. Ericsson will initially employ 100 people at the facility and will invest $100 million.

 

Amazon expanding Austin presence with 600 new tech jobs

Online retail giant Amazon is again expanding its Central Texas presence, with plans to add more than 600 tech-focused jobs at its hub in North Austin. The latest expansion comes after Amazon said in March that it planned to add 800 tech jobs to the space in the Domain. In total, the hub will add 1,400 tech jobs between the two expansions, according to the company.

 

Carvana expected to bring 400 new jobs to West Memphis, Ark.

Carvana plans to open an inspection and distribution center in West Memphis. The Arizona-based online auto sales platform, noted for its “car vending machines,”  will invest $40 million in the West Memphis facility and plans to eventually employ more than 400 people. Automobiles will be inspected, reconditioned, photographed and stored at the facility.

 

Santa bringing 5,400 new jobs Tulsa, Okla.

Macy’s Fulfillment Center in North Tulsa needs 5,400 workers as the holidays approach. Warehouse employees would handle mail order supplies, online purchases as well as in-store orders.

 

Aerospace manufacturer lands in Lynn Haven, Fla.

Connecticut-based Advanced Composites & Metalforming Technologies (ACMT) is creating its second home in Lynn Haven. ACMT pledged to create 105 jobs within five years. Its Bay County capital investment will be about $22 million. ACMT does both military and commercial jobs for Pratt & Whitney, some work for Rolls Royce, and anticipates doing an increasing amount of work for GE and GKN.

 

Hungarian companies bringing jobs to West Virginia

Hundreds of jobs are expected to come to West Virginia following a meeting between West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice and a delegation of leaders from Hungary. It’s all part of an effort to increase energy and defense security led by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

 

FedEx will hire 55,000 for the holiday season

Memphis, Tenn.-based FedEx will hire 55,000 additional workers for the holiday season, the parcel delivery company announced. To meet service demands during the holiday season, the company is increasing hours for some employees and boosting workforce with seasonal positions.To supplement its team of more than 450,000 for the holidays, the majority of the 55,000 added will go to the FedEx Ground network.

 

Apple ducks Chinese tariffs by building Mac Pro in Texas

With the U.S. and China still locking its horns in a tariff battle, consumer technology giant Apple is finding ways to duck Chinese tariffs and will continue to build its desktop computer, the Mac Pro, in Austin, Texas. This shift to building the new Mac Pro domestically comes as tariffs on China are hurting the bottom line, particularly for its bread-and-butter product, the iPhone.

 

Houston County, Ga., plant expansion to bring in 70 new jobs

Nonwoven manufacturer Sandler has broken ground on the expansion of its U.S. plant in Perry, Ga. The company invested $60 million in the expansion and will hire 70 new jobs. A new line is scheduled to start production in fall 2020. This is the only location of the family-owned manufacturing company outside of Germany.

 

Air Liquide funding big expansion at Geismar methanol plant

A $270 million expansion of a methanol plant in Geismar, La., is coming, Air Liquide announced recently. The company will construct two air separation units at the Methanex methanol plant there.  The units will produce up to 5,000 tons of oxygen per day.

 

Toyota’s $391 million expansion is first major renovation of San Antonio plant since 2006

Toyota announced it will spend $391 million to expand its San Antonio truck factory — the biggest capital infusion at the facility since production began in 2006. Once completed, the automaker said its total investment in the plant will exceed $3 billion.

 

Ford’s new Texas call center to generate 500 jobs

The Ford Motor Company recently announced it would be opening a new customer contact center in Houston, where company officials expect it to generate as many as 500 jobs. 

 

Permit approved for $1.5 billion Sun Paper project in Arkansas

Nearly four years after announcing the state’s first blockbuster deal with China, Gov. Asa Hutchinson said the state Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has finally approved an air permit to begin construction on the much-awaited $1.5 billion Sun Paper pulp mill in Arkadelphia.

 

Blue Line Aviation expands with 134 jobs in North Carolina

Blue Line Aviation has broken ground on a $13 million facility at Johnston Regional Airport in North Carolina, expanding its footprint from its Raleigh-area base. The 40,000-square-foot building will house hangar space alongside the company’s new headquarters, which it will be moving from RDU upon completion of the construction. Blue Line Aviation expects to create about 134 new jobs, bringing its total employment to 300 people.

 

GM Bowling Green plant to add 400 jobs

Automaker GM plans to add a second shift and more than 400 new employees at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant in preparation to build the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette later this year.

 

Ermco creating 150 jobs in Tennessee

A company that produces transformers is planning to invest $12 million in an expansion in Tennessee that is expected to create 150 jobs. ERMCO will grow its operations in Dyersburg, where the company currently has its headquarters. ERMCO plans to expand to a third building and will add 8,000 more square feet to the facility, which used to house Caterpillar.

 

Interchange opens Rockingham County, Va., facility

Third-party logistics provider InterChange has opened a 250,000-square-foot state-of-the-art cold storage and blast-freezing operation in Rockingham County. The new facility represents an investment of $41.6 million and 88 new jobs to service the region’s large and growing cluster of food and beverage manufacturers. 

 

Kalyani Precision Machining opens in Sanford, N.C.

Kalyani Precision Machining will invest $43 million to build a new high-precision machine shop in Sanford. The company plans to create 156 jobs over five years in Lee County. Kalyani Forge Ltd. is one of India's oldest and most established manufacturers of precision forged and machined components.

 

Kobelco expands plant in Bowling Green, Ky.

Japan-based automotive parts manufacturer Kobelco Aluminum Products & Extrusions has reached full capacity at its new facility in Bowling Green. The company will undergo a $42 million, 90-job expansion that will push total employment at the plant to 220 and total investment to $95 million.

 

Mississippi catfish processor plans $17 million expansion 

Superior Catfish is expanding its operations in Macon with a $17 million investment that will create 25 jobs. The company is constructing an addition to its facility to house two new processing lines.

 

Navistar to build facility in Texas

Commercial truck and bus manufacturer Navistar will make a capital investment of more than $250 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Texas. The investment will bring approximately 600 jobs to the San Antonio area.

 

DENSO opens R&D center in Plano, Texas 

DENSO, the world’s second largest mobility supplier, will invest $1.3 million to open the Texas Innovation and Connected Service Center in Plano. The company will use state-of-the-art R&D to innovate vehicle service solutions.

 

Accruent opens Center Of Excellence in New Orleans

Austin, Texas-based Accruent, a global software company, has opened its new technology center of excellence that ultimately will house up to 350 new employees in New Orleans, La.

 

India-based Bharat Forge to open in Sanford, N.C.

Bharat Forge America will invest $127.3 million to build an aluminum forging plant to manufacture automobile components in Sanford. The company plans to create 304 jobs there. The new facility in Sanford will be part of a larger manufacturing center that will bring as many as 460 jobs to Lee County.

 

Alabama beats out Japan and China for $195 million expansion project

Daikin America plans to invest up to $195 million to expand its plant in Decatur, Ala. The expansion will result in 50 new full-time jobs for the fluorochemical supplier.

 

Tyson Foods expanding in Georgia, creating 100 jobs

Arkansas-based Tyson Foods has expanded its existing poultry-processing facility in Camilla, Ga., creating 100 new jobs with an investment of $34.2 million. Construction recently wrapped up on the 35,000-square-foot expansion in Southwest Georgia.

Vecoplan has broken ground on its latest plant expansion in Archdale, N.C. The plant will be committed solely to manufacturing shred trucks for the secure information destruction industry.

 

$400 million expansion underway at Volvo Truck’s Virginia plant

Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) will invest nearly $400 million over the next six years to upgrade the New River Valley plant that produces all Volvo trucks sold in North America. The upgrades include expansion of the plant’s footprint and installation of equipment.

 

Walmart hiring 140 for Hammond, La., distribution center

Walmart is hiring about 140 associates for its distribution center in Hammond.

Wages for full-time, hourly associates start at $17.55 per hour and can reach more than $19.55 an hour.

 

Digital mortgage lender to hire 1,000 in Charlotte

Better.com has chosen Charlotte for its new office and expects to hire 1,000 new employees within the next five years. The startup is a digital mortgage lender and is opening an office at We Work’s co-working space at the RailYard in South End. One hundred employees will be hired by the end of the year and 1,000 by 2024. The bulk of the jobs to be filled in Charlotte will be in sales, software engineering, partnerships and operations.

 

Polydeck Screen expands South Carolina operations

Polydeck Screen Corporation, a provider of polyurethane and rubber screen media and specialty screening solutions, will invest $8.7 million to expand its operations in Spartanburg County. The company plans to create 45 jobs.

 

Katom announces 100 more jobs in Tennessee

KaTom Restaurant Supply, a family-owned kitchen supply business based in Kodak, Tenn., is growing again. The company plans to add 100 jobs along with a 40,000-square-foot expansion, fueled by $12.6 million in loans, the firm announced recently.

 

Apparel firm to make $7.5 million Tennessee expansion with 220 jobs

VF Corporation plans to invest $7.5 million and expand its current Workwear operations in Henning and locate a new facility in Covington, Tenn. The projects are expected to create over 220 new jobs in West Tennessee. VF will be expanding its manufacturing facility in Henning, where it will create 162 new jobs, and locating a new distribution facility in Covington, where it will create 66 new jobs. VF Corporation’s brands include The North Face, Timberland and Dickies.

 

Toyota supplier to hire 900 in South Texas

Aisin AW, a maker of transmissions for Toyota and other automakers, is building a new plant in Guadalupe County, near San Antonio. The $400 million project will create 900 jobs. Toyota assembles pickup trucks in San Antonio. 

 

Call center to locate in Tarboro, N.C.

Officials of the Town of Tarboro and Carolinas Gateway Partnership recently gathered to announce the opening of NBSF Consulting and the creation of 225 jobs. The company will operate a call center in downtown Tarboro.

 

International company breaks ground in Bryan County, Ga.

Foundation equipment manufacturer, CZM Foundation Equipment, broke ground on its new U.S. corporate and factory headquarters in Ellabell, Ga. The facility will include a new 40,000-square-foot manufacturing shop and will employ 25 new jobs, taking the company to around 75 total employees over the next three years. 

 

National Renewable Energy to locate in Marion, S.C.

National Renewable Energy Corporation, a renewable energy producer, announced the development of Cardinal Solar, a new solar power operation in Marion, S.C. The company is focused on the construction of utility scale and commercial solar installations. The project is expected to bring $8.75 million in capital investment. 

 

Mid South Extrusion expands Louisiana plant

Mid South Extrusion will invest $4.5 million to add a 10th production line at its facility in Monroe, La. The company manufactures polyethylene films primarily for packaging.

 

Facebook opens new Austin office

The social media company’s newest offices in the Third + Shoal tower in downtown Austin have room for more than 1,550 employees. Facebook already has about 1,200 employees in the capital city across multiple offices, said Katherine Shappley, head of the Austin office and vice president of Facebook’s North American Global Business Group. “As you look at Silicon Valley, all companies I think are looking to other prime locations like Austin — center of the country, vibrant community and great talent pool,” she said. 

 

Manufacturer to create 350 jobs in Kentucky

In the summer, Fibrotex USA, which makes high-tech products for the military, announced it is investing $12 million at its facilities in Stearns, Ky. The deal will create 350 jobs. 

 

Meggitt adding 83 jobs in Danville, Ky., with $82 million investment

Meggitt, an international company specializing in components for the aerospace, defense and energy markets, plans to increase its aircraft brake manufacturing capacity in Boyle County, creating up to 83 full-time jobs with an $82.7 million investment. The Danville plant currently produces brakes for Airbus, Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and Gulfstream.

 

Medical startup to open HQ in Memphis with 249 jobs

A healthcare startup based in Boston will open its operational headquarters in downtown Memphis, Tenn., with plans to invest $1.5 million and create 249 jobs. Prospero Health is a new provider of home-based care. The Memphis location will provide administrative support for physicians, nurses and social workers across 23 markets where the company hopes to expand, as well as over-the-phone “telehealth” services.

 

GE Appliances completes reno in Jacksonville, Fla.

GE Appliances, now a division of Haier, has completed the renovation of its Smart Distribution Center in Jacksonville. The warehouse was formerly a Sears distribution center. The investment at the Jacksonville facility is part of the company’s $150 million national investment in an integrated distribution network.

 

Coal-to-liquid facility coming to Mason County, W.Va.

Domestic Synthetic Fuels (DSF) now has the construction permit to build a state-of-the-art coal-to-liquids facility in Mason County, creating more than 250 jobs. DSF officials said it will take thousands of workers to build the facility. After construction, the plant will create 130 jobs on-site and 130 coal-mining jobs to supply the raw materials.

 

R&E Automated Systems expands Spartanburg County, S.C., operations

R&E Automated Systems, a leader in the automation, engineering and prototype build industries, plans to expand operations in Spartanburg County. The $12 million investment is expected to create 176 new jobs. R&E will specialize in robotics and engineering.

 

Amazon plans to hire 30,000 at job fairs

The online shopping giant is holding job fairs across the country, aiming to hire more than 30,000 people by early next year, a 5 percent bump in its total workforce. Amazon is looking for all kinds of workers, from software engineers to warehouse staff, and the hiring spree is not related to the usual increase in hiring it does to prepare for the busy holiday shopping season.

 

Dump truck builder expands into N.C. Triad

Dump Truck body manufacturer Ox Bodies is set to open an operation in High Point, N.C., creating at least 40 jobs. The company will paint dump truck bodies, install those bodies on client-provided chassis, and provide parts, service and installation of other commercial truck accessories in the former Hatteras Yachts building.

 

More than 250 jobs coming to North Mississippi town

For years, hundreds of Panola County residents worked  at Batesville Casket Company, and when the company closed two years ago, the community suffered. Now, Blauer Manufacturing, a uniform manufacturing company, has bought the building and plans to bring more than 250 jobs to Batesville in October.

 

Tennessee healthcare IT company expanding

HCTec will continue to expand its operations in Hohenwald, Tenn., with more than $500,000 in  investment. The healthcare IT workforce service provider will create over 100 additional jobs in Lewis County over the next five years.

 

GE Appliances investing $60 million in South Carolina

GE Appliances, a Haier company, has announced it will create a new Manufacturing Center of Excellence for production of water heaters at its plant in Camden, S.C. The company is investing $60 million in the Kershaw County project. 

 

Faddis Concrete Products plans Chester County, S.C., plant

A Pennsylvania company that makes concrete sound barriers for highway projects will spend almost $7 million to open a 60-employee plant in Chester County. Faddis Concrete Products of Honey Brook, Penn., expects to begin production later this year in an existing building about 40 miles south of Charlotte.

 

Kroger and Ocado plan fulfillment center in Dallas

The Kroger Co., America’s largest grocery retailer, and Ocado, one of the world’s largest dedicated online grocery retailers, announced its fifth location for a Customer Fulfillment Center will be in Dallas, Texas. The 350,000-square-foot facility is expected to create up to 400 new jobs. 

 

Eagle Aviation Technologies creating 75 jobs in Virginia

Eagle Aviation Technologies, an industry leader in composites design and fabrication, will invest $207,500 to expand its manufacturing facility in the City of Newport News.  The company will add new production equipment at the operation and create 75 new jobs to focus on prototype systems and components for the aviation, space and marine industries.

 

New Gulfstream facility for Chatham County, Ga.

Gulfstream Aerospace cut the ribbon on a new facility and is now looking to fill jobs in Chatham County. The new Gulfstream Eastern Campus is over 200,000 square feet (big enough for 13 aircraft) and represents a $55 million investment. 

 

Former Big Ass Fans execs choose Louisville for new company HQ

Two veterans of Lexington, Ky.-based Big Ass Fans are now hoping to shakeup the cleaning products industry with a new startup. Truman’s, a direct-to-consumer cleaning products company, has received a $5 million investment, and will establish its headquarters in Louisville.

 

Shreveport printing company announces expansion, job openings

Southland Printing Company of Shreveport announced the acquisition of their California-based competitor, Digital Printing Systems. With the acquisition, Southland Printing is now the largest privately held, family-owned parking ticket manufacturer in the United States.

 

$70 million expansion at Arkansas Georgia-Pacific plant

Georgia-Pacific will invest $70 million in its plywood and lumber operations in Gurdon, Ark., and donate $100,000 to area schools. No jobs will be created with the expansion of the plant that has about 700 employees.

 

Green Rhino moving global HQ to Apopka, Fla.

Green Rhino Energy Solutions announced it has moved its global headquarters to a new facility in Central Florida, which will house its global offices as well as an assembly and distribution plant. Here the company will assemble its energy storage systems and distribute them worldwide. The Apopka facility will provide employment for up to 300 people.

An expanding Hanceville, Ala., business is expecting to bring 30 new jobs and more than $900,000 in new annual wages to the Cullman area. Birmingham Fastener produces heavy-duty fasteners for metal buildings and more.

 

Aftershokz relocates headquarters to Austin

AfterShokz, a company that manufactures premium headphones, will be relocating its North American headquarters from New York to Austin, Texas.

The company will employ up to 40 people by the end of the year and plans to expand to 85 by the end of 2021. “AfterShokz is a fast-growing company, and we needed to find a city for our corporate headquarters that could support the expansion of our brand,” said Kimberly Fassetta, CMO, AfterShokz. “Austin’s energy, culture, talent pool and community of leading technology innovators and thriving outdoor brands are what drew us to the city.”

 

Manufacturing giant taps North Carolina for expansion

Minnesota-based PCB Piezotronics, a designer and manufacturer of precision sensors used in a variety of test and measurement and industrial settings, will consolidate production operations currently located in China and California to its facility in Halifax County, N.C., creating 120 jobs. The company will invest nearly $4.5 million in the project.

 

DC Machine expands in Summerville, S.C.

DC Machine, a manufacturer of firearms components and precision metal parts, is expanding its existing operations in Summerville. The company’s investment of $9.5 million is expected to create 63 new jobs in Dorchester County.

 

New Colleton, S.C., industry to create 55 jobs

Colonial Precast Concrete of Carolina, a manufacturer of concrete products, announced plans to establish manufacturing operations in Colleton County. The $2.5 million investment is expected to create approximately 55 new jobs.

 

Supercar manufacturer moving its U.S. base to North Texas

British supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive is moving its North American base of operations from New York to Coppell, Texas. McLaren Automotive's luxury sports cars are manufactured at the company's plant in Surrey, England, and shipped to the U.S. Since entering the U.S. market eight years ago, McLaren has sold more than 7,000 of its cars, which start at$200,000.

 

Bendix investing $65 million in Kentucky plant expansion

Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake is investing $65 million to expand its facility in Bowling Green, Ky., and plans to add 100 new jobs. Bendix makes air disc brakes for commercial vehicles.

 

ABB’s $40 million bringing 400 jobs to North Carolina

ABB plans an expansion in Mebane that will bring 400 new jobs to Orange County. The Swiss industrial company manufactures robotics, automation and electrical equipment.

 

Hemp processor moves headquarters to Austin

Socati Corp. announced the opening of its executive headquarters in Austin, Texas, re-locating from Woodburn, Ore. Socati is a manufacturer of hemp extracts for the consumer packaged goods industries. Its Austin headquarters will grow to more than 40 employees over the coming months.

 

MEGlobal cuts ribbon on Gulf Coast site

MEGlobal Americas has inaugurated its new ethylene glycol (EG) manufacturing facility in Oyster Creek, Texas, parent company EQUATE Group reported recently. The $2 billion project employed nearly 2,000 construction workers at peak and has created 55 new full-time long-term jobs and 25 to 35 contract jobs. The project represents the first time a Kuwait-based petrochemical company has invested in the U.S. Gulf Coast.

 

Enviro Tech Chemical Services plans new plant in Levelland, Texas

Enviro Tech Chemical Services will invest $8 million in a new chemical manufacturing facility at Industrial Rail Park in Levelland, Texas. In its first phase, the new facility will employ 25 people, with plans to provide 75 new jobs upon completion of the $5 million expansion. Enviro Tech said it plans to expand its water treatment chemicals presence in Texas.

 

Raytheon to expand Texas assembly plant

Raytheon will build a 200,000-square-foot assembly plant in McKinney, Texas, supporting 500 new high-tech jobs at its Space and Airborne Systems headquarters. Raytheon’s McKinney facility specializes in assembling intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

 

Huntsman considers $270 million expansion in Geismar

The Woodlands-based Huntsman and its affiliated joint venture Rubicon are mulling a potential multiphase polyurethane plant expansion in Ascension Parish, La., worth at least $270 million. The Geismar plant mostly produces methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, also known as MDI, which is used in manufacturing products such as insulation, furniture, plastic, shoes and pharmaceuticals. 

 

Commander Aircraft expanding in Oklahoma

The Commander Aircraft Corporation has purchased land in Norman, Okla., and will build an $8 million production facility for its Commander single-engine aircraft. The company anticipates hiring between 30 and 50 employees in the fields of aerospace and mechanical engineering once full production is reached.

 

$8 million expansion creates 102 jobs in Virginia

Virginia-based Howell Metal Company recently announced plans to invest $8 million in expanding its production facility. The manufacturer of copper tubing and line sets for the construction market will create 102 jobs. 

 

Cycling apparel maker plans North Carolina factory

A manufacturer of specialty apparel for cyclists announced plans to relocate from northern California to western North Carolina and establish a new manufacturing and distribution facility. Kitsbow anticipates investing nearly $900,000 in the facility in Old Fort, N.C., about 20 miles east of Asheville. The project is expected to create 53 new jobs.

 

Spectra kidney services lab planned in Southaven, Miss.

Kidney dialysis specialist Spectra Laboratories will open a 300-employee plant in the Memphis suburb of Southaven. Spectra is a subsidiary of Germany-based Fresenius.

 

Winston-Salem may get Renfro HQ 

Winston-Salem, N.C., could gain a corporate headquarters if the city succeeds in convincing Mount Airy sock-maker Renfro Corp. to put down roots there and bring in up to 225 jobs.

 

Formosa Plastics investing hundreds of millions in Louisiana

Formosa Plastics is investing $332 million to expand production of PVC at its plant in Baton Rouge, La. The company is adding new equipment at two of its three operating units. 

 

Senture bringing 400 new jobs to Kentucky

Senture, one of Southern and Eastern Kentucky’s largest technology-based employers, is adding 400 new jobs at its facilities in London, Annville and Williamsburg due to a new contract with Humana. The majority of the jobs will be call center agents and work-from-home positions. The company expects to fill at least 150 positions by the end of the year.

 

FFE Transportation plans hub in Rocky Mount, N.C.

FFE Transportation Services, a temperature-controlled carrier, will create 96 new jobs in Rocky Mount. The company will invest $4.7 million in establishing a new service center in Nash County.

 

United Systems builds HQ in Marshall County, Ky.

Software and IT services provider United Systems and Software broke ground on a new $5.3 million headquarters in Marshall County. The project is expected to create 50 full-time jobs.

 

EZ-Access bringing 35 jobs to Henderson County, Ky.

A brand new Henderson industry — aluminum ramp, stair and platform maker EZ-Access — is expanding its East Coast manufacturing operations by bringing new jobs to an existing 50,000-square-foot building.

 

TTEC to hire 100 in Paducah, Ky.

TTEC Holdings will be hiring 100 full-time health care customer experience associates to support seniors and other Medicare-eligible healthcare consumers and health insurance members.

 

Cheniere puts Corpus Christi LNG train into service

The second of three planned units at a Cheniere Energy facility at the Port of Corpus Christi is ready to begin liquefying natural gas. The facility, known in the industry as a train, will liquefy natural gas piped in from oil fields in Texas and other parts of the continental U.S. so that it can be shipped abroad. Shipments from train 2 will begin next year. The first delivery is expected to arrive at an unnamed location in May 2020. Cheniere has agreed to ship LNG to several foreign-owned companies, including French utility Électricité de France S.A., Spanish utility Iberdrola S.A. and Indonesian state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina. Train 2 was on time and within budget, the company said. 

 

Amazon eyes another Nashville area distribution facility

A planned 3.6-million-square-foot warehouse in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., has been connected to internet giant Amazon. Officially known as “Project Sam,” Amazon declined comment. To give an idea of how many people could work at such a facility, plans indicate 1,800 parking spots. 

 

Pharmaceutical firm to open in Pasco, Texas 

An existing office building and warehouse is set to become the location for Fleda Pharmaceuticals Corp., a new pharmaceutical manufacturing company set to open its doors later this winter. Fleda has announced the creation of 30 new jobs for the area.

 

FBI says more than 4,000 jobs coming to Huntsville, Ala.

For the first time amid its build-up at Redstone Arsenal, the FBI said more than 4,000 jobs will be coming to Huntsville over the next eight to 10 years. That echoes reporting over the past two years about the growth of the nation’s top domestic crime enforcement agency in the Rocket City.

 

Orange County, Texas, working for Chevron Phillips expansion

Orange County saw another win in the bid to get a $5 billion Chevron Phillips expansion in the area. The Orange County Commissioners Court voted to approve a request to survey airport property for a proposed pipeline route.

The expansion could bring thousands of construction jobs and at least 100 permanent jobs.

 

Brose celebrates plant expansion in Vance, Ala.

Auto parts supplier Brose Tuscaloosa is celebrating the completion of an 80,000-square-foot expansion. The company was recently awarded a contract to produce seat adjustment components for Ford’s F-150. The parts supplier in Vance now employs 700, but that number could grow to 800 in the future.

 

Boeing announces plant expansion in Missouri

Boeing recently delivered its 400,000th JDAM, which is a guided weapons system, and announced the expansion of its St. Charles plant. Boeing has committed to building a new 35,000-square-foot plant for harpoon production. For now, Boeing says the addition doesn’t include any more jobs, just reassigning other employees, but that could change.

The Chase Bank building in downtown Denison will soon be home to a new business that brought 75 new jobs to the city. With plans to create even more jobs, ARStrat will be occupying spaces on the second floor of the bank building. The business is a debt collection agency for the healthcare industry. 

 

Big Gun Robotics expands in Newberry County, S.C.

Big Gun Robotics, a robotic welding company that supplies heavy equipment manufacturers, will invest more than $3.6 million to expand its operations in Newberry County. The company is purchasing the property, as well as adding a 20,000-square-foot expansion to provide space for additional equipment and employees.

 

Abbeville Fiber opens Alabama sawmill

Abbeville Fiber officially opened its state-of-the-art sawmill that will employ 115 people in Henry County, Ala. Abbeville Fiber’s sole client will be Great Southern Wood.

 

Safety National Casualty expands Missouri HQ

Safety National Casualty Corporation, a specialty insurance and reinsurance provider, has begun construction on the $32 million expansion of its corporate headquarters in Maryland Heights, Mo. The company could employ 750-1,000 people once the expansion is complete.

 

Nestle Purina investing $115 million in Southeast Missouri plant

One of the largest employers in southeast Missouri recently received a visit from the governor, highlighting a major multi-million-dollar expansion. Governor Mike Parson traveled to Bloomfield to tour a Nestle Purina plant that’s undergoing a $115 million investment. Nestle is the world’s largest food and beverage company.

 

Phillips & Jordan plans Texas headquarters

Phillips & Jordan recently detailed its plans for a regional headquarters near San Antonio. The company began 67 years ago to pursue land clearing and grubbing projects. Based in Knoxville, Tenn., it plans to build a $15 million regional headquarters in Pasco, Texas.

 

Auto supplier kicks off construction on $110 million Alabama plant

DaikyoNishikawa US (DNUS) recently celebrated a groundbreaking to officially launch construction on the auto supplier’s $110 million manufacturing plant in North Alabama. The DNUS facility, which will produce plastic automotive parts for the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing assembly plant, will employ approximately 380 people at full production. 

 

Mobile, Ala., approves $36 million bond issue for tire recycler

A bond issue of up to $36 million is coming down the pipeline for a tire recycling facility in South Alabama. The Mobile County Commission gave the green light for the bond issues for a plant in the Axis area north of Mobile that will reduce tires to raw materials such as steel, carbon black and crumb rubber. The project will likely employ 55 to 60 people. 

 

North Carolina wins Carvana

North Carolina is offering $1.2 million in tax incentives to Carvana, a move that the Cooper Administration says will result in nearly $512 million for the state’s economy. The e-commerce car sales platform plans to open a new inspection and reconditioning facility in Cabarrus County. The Concord facility’s staff will inspect, refurbish and process vehicles for online sales.
