Airbus delivers 100th A220 aircraft from its Mobile complex

Alabama’s aerospace industry reached new heights as Airbus announced in the summer the delivery of the 100th A220 aircraft produced at its U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, marking a major milestone for the site and for the state’s thriving aviation sector. Airbus launched A220 manufacturing at the Alabama facility in 2019 and opened a dedicated final assembly line for the aircraft at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley the next year, following a significant investment project.

 

Metals manufacturer MR6 invests in rural Alabama

MR6 Tech Services, a roll-forming metals maker, is investing $1.5 million in a new facility in Chambers County, Ala. The deal will create 20 jobs. 

 

The old 3 million-square-foot Goodyear plant in Gadsden has a new user 

Almost a century old, the former Goodyear plant -- once the largest single tire plant in the U.S. based on production -- has a new user. Wyoming-based Takkion, a global renewable energy logistics company, will lease the 2.9 million-square-foot plant for repairs, storage of solar panels, and clean energy logistics. 

 

L3 Harris Technologies expands Huntsville solid rocket motor facility with plans for more growth

The manufacturer makes rocket motors and other missile-specific parts like nozzles, exit cones and after closures. The Melbourne, Fla., defense manufacturer is investing more than $20 million and hiring 40. 

 

Fabricator investing in Alabama

Contour Fabrications and Mechanical, a steel refurbishment manufacturer, is investing $7 million in a new operation in Heflin, Ala. The deal is expected to create 30 jobs. The company is based in Kentucky. 

 

Arkansas

 

Big deal from Welspun in Little Rock 

Welspun Tubular is investing $150 million in a new pipe mill in the capital city of Little Rock, Ark. The company will establish a new kind of submergible pipe at the plant. Three hundred new jobs will be created. 

 

CANTEX locates new operations in Nashville. . .Arkansas

CANTEX INC, a leading manufacturer of American-made electrical conduit, fittings and boxes, has announced plans to invest $120 million to locate a new facility in Nashville, Ark. The new facility is expected to create 110 new jobs over one year.

 

Central States opens new frame plant in Springdale, Ark.

Central States Inc. has officially opened its new state-of-the-art steel frame manufacturing plant, supporting its Central States Building Works division, in Springdale, Ark. The $24 million project will create 50 jobs. 

 

Mueller Streamline expands in Wynne, Ark.

Mueller Streamline Co. has announced an investment of more than $7 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Wynne. The expansion is expected to create 60 new jobs over two years.

 

Deal in West Memphis, Ark.

Sediver, manufacturer of power transmission line insulators, is expanding across the Mississippi River from Memphis in Arkansas. The project will create 25 new jobs.  

 

LG Harris invests in rural Arkansas

LG Harris announced plans to build more than 20 new manufacturing facilities in Calhoun County, Ark., that will produce large solid rocket motors. The new campus will create 50 new jobs over two years, adding to L3Harris’ 1,300-person workforce in Camden.

 

Florida

 

Billion-dollar investment made in Northwest Florida

Williams International announced in early summer that it is locating a $1 billion, 1 million-square-foot facility in Okaloosa County. It is the largest investment by value in Florida Panhandle history. The aviation and aerospace manufacturer conducted a long site search before choosing Okaloosa County, Fort Walton and the Shoal River Industrial Park. From Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office: “Numerous state, regional and local partners worked together to facilitate this major economic development success story for Northwest Florida. In 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis awarded $3.2 million through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund to expand manufacturing in Okaloosa County. FloridaCommerce partnered with several state and local organizations including CareerSource Florida, Florida’s Great Northwest, Space Florida, Okaloosa County, and Triumph Gulf Coast on this major economic development win for Florida.”

 

Sonoco invests $30 million to expand Orlando facility

Sonoco is expanding its adhesives and sealants plant in Orlando. The deal will create 26 jobs.  

 

Pherros Biosciences expanding in South Florida 

Pherros Biosciences, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Deerfield Beach, is expanding its facility there for the production of up to 100,000 units of new and generic injectable medicines per day. The project will create 85 jobs.

 

Florida biotech invests $100 million 

Transpire Bio, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, is investing $100 million with a new facility in Pembroke Pines. The project will create 200 jobs. 

 

National Energy USA plans to expand operations in Pensacola

The engineering firm headquartered in Pensacola, which takes organic material and converts it to renewable energy, is hiring 15 in the deal. 

 

Manufacturer expanding in Escambia County

Jupiter Bach, a manufacturer of covers for wind turbines, has invested over $4 million in its manufacturing facility near Pensacola. 

 

Window and door manufacturer is expanding in Bay County

Global Impact Products LLC will establish a window and door manufacturing operation in Florida’s Bay County. The company will create 150 new jobs and will invest $14 million in the new operation.

 

Nice deal for Wakulla County, Fla. 

Point Blank Enterprises will create 300 jobs at a new facility it’s constructing at Opportunity Park (great title) in Wakulla County. The company produces body armor for law enforcement and the nation’s war fighters. 

 

Georgia

 

Pilgrim’s to build new prepared foods facility, creating 630 jobs in Walker County

Pilgrim’s, one of the world’s leading food companies, will invest $400 million to expand its footprint in Georgia. The company will build a new, multi-phase prepared foods facility in LaFayette, Walker County, supporting more than 630 new jobs at full capacity.

 

EV maker Rivian picks Atlanta for its new East Coast HQ

Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has named Atlanta the site of its East Coast headquarters. Rivian is in the process of constructing its massive, 9 million-square-foot plant near Social Circle after a delay in construction for several months. Rivian announced it would restart its megasite construction after it secured a $6.6 billion loan from the US Department of Energy in late 2024. The manufacturer plans to officially break ground on the site in 2026 and hopes to roll out the first vehicles off the assembly line in 2028.

 

Hundreds of jobs lost within weeks after Georgia reaches its all-time high in employment

Layoffs in Georgia in August put a damper on the state’s announcement that it set an all-time record of 5 million-plus workers with a job. That was dropped by 500 jobs from June, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. As of the beginning of the summer, that 5 million job count was reduced to 4.995 million employed in the Peach State. 

 

Another billion-dollar data center has been proposed just outside of metro Atlanta

This one is in Hall County, Ga. The build-out value is estimated at $1.2 billion and will include 900,000 square feet of space. 

 

Ti Cold and Karis Cold building $60 million facility in McIntosh County, Ga.

Ti Cold and Karis Cold have officially broken ground on a new $60 million cold storage facility for PermaCold Logistics in Darien, McIntosh County, Ga. The industrial cold storage construction company’s latest project will support 50 jobs upon completion of phase one.

 

King’s Hawaiian to invest $54 million in Hall County, Ga., expansion

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced in the summer that family-owned, Hawaii-inspired food company King’s Hawaiian will invest approximately $54 million in expanding its Oakwood facility, creating more than 135 new jobs.

 

Kentucky

 

Ford Motor to invest $2 billion and “secure” 2,200 jobs in Louisville

Gov. Andy Beshear and Ford officials announced in August that Ford will bring an all-new electric vehicle to its car plant in Louisville. The Michigan-based automaker also operates a large truck plant in Louisville. Ford’s presence in Kentucky dates back to 1913, when the Model T first rolled off the production line in Louisville. In the 112 years since, the company has grown its presence in the commonwealth to employ nearly 12,000 people in addition to close to 6,000 retirees. Ford partners with 165 Kentucky-based suppliers, purchasing nearly $6 billion in products annually.

 

One step closer to a new $1.5 billion investment in Paducah for uranium mining

Gov. Andy Beshear announced a major milestone for an economic development project in McCracken County that will include a nearly $1.5 billion investment and create 140 well-paying jobs. The governor joined other elected officials and leaders from General Matter, an American uranium enrichment company, to recognize the company’s signing a lease with the U.S. Department of Energy for the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

 

Canadian packaging manufacturer plants flag in Kentucky

E. Hofmann Packaging is investing $43 million in a new plant in Hopkins County, Ky. The deal will create 164 jobs. 

 

Alta Alloys to relocate HQ and operations to Simpson County, Ky. 

Alta Alloys LLC, a specialty processor of titanium, nickel alloys and other super alloys, will relocate its company headquarters and expand its operations with a new facility in Simpson County, a $20 million investment expected to create 45 new, high-quality skilled manufacturing jobs.

 

Biotech firm to invest $40 million in Frankfort

Meridian Biotech is establishing a new plant in Frankfort that will convert distillery byproducts into multifunctional alternative proteins. The deal includes a $40 million investment and will create up to 35 high-tech, well-paying jobs.

 

Auto supplier Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems to expand in Simpson County, Ky. 

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems announced a $17 million expansion of its Simpson County facility that will create 76 new full-time jobs.

 

Louisiana

 

Five deep-water ports in the Louisiana launch unified marketing strategy

The five deep-water ports of the Lower Mississippi River — Port of Greater Baton Rouge, Port of South Louisiana, Port of New Orleans, St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District, and Louisiana Gateway Port — have entered into a landmark agreement to develop a collaborative marketing plan aimed at increasing international trade, driving economic growth, and attracting new business along with foreign direct investment and supporting Louisiana’s long-term economic development goals.

 

Big deal at historic paper mill in Louisiana

Hood Container announced in the summer it will invest $118.9 million to modernize its legacy paper mill in West Feliciana Parish, allowing the company to significantly boost production capacity and quality to meet evolving market demands. The project will retain the 295 workers housed there now. 

 

One-hundred-million-dollar project in Houma, La. 

Neuro.io, powered by global neurotechnology company MindMaze AI, announced its plans to establish a $100 million innovation campus in Terrebonne Parish. Known as BrainHUB, the facility will be the company’s first U.S. operation and will focus on advancing large-scale AI applications and brain technology. The company is expected to create more than 1,100 direct new jobs across AI engineering, healthcare and advanced manufacturing. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in an additional 1,686 indirect new jobs, for a total of 2,786 potential new jobs in the Bayou Region.

 

Fifty million dollars invested in Caddo Parish

Ascentek, Inc., a leader in fluid and lubricant technology, announced it is investing $50 million to build a new, 270,000-square-foot manufacturing assistance facility and enhance operations at its existing production and distribution center in Caddo Parish to support growing demand from customers worldwide. The company is expected to create 91 direct new jobs.  

 

Mississippi

 

Howard Industries investing $236 million in Clarke, Jones and Simpson counties in Mississippi

Electrical distribution transformer and technology products manufacturer Howard Industries is expanding operations across its Mississippi facilities in Clarke, Jones and Simpson counties. The project is a $236.95 million investment and will create a total of 450 jobs. Howard Industries’ expansions will enable the company to meet U.S. Dept. of Energy’s new requirements for electrical transformers while addressing the growing demand for power from sectors such as data centers, electric vehicles, transportation and industry.

 

Chemical manufacturer lands in Mississippi

International chemical manufacturer Mancuso Chemicals Limited is establishing operations in Pachuta. The project is a $5.52 million investment and will create 17 jobs.

 

North Carolina

 

Kingsun to invest over $80 million for first U.S. plant 

Zhejiang Kingsun Eco-Pacl Ltd. (Kingsun), a Chinese manufacturer of biodegradable paper tableware, announced it will establish its first U.S. production facility in Robbinsville, N.C. The company will create 300 jobs with an investment of over $80 million.

 

Raleigh-Cary metro ranks No. 1 for job opportunities

The North Carolina Research Triangle economy, unlike many large Southern metros, is doing well according to reports. The Raleigh-Cary metro has been named No. 1 by a San Francisco-based report done by Checkr. The report analyzed all the important metrics, such as labor force, open jobs, income per capita and wage growth. 

 

Citigroup Technology sets up North Carolina hub; hiring 500 

Citigroup Technology Inc. announced a $16 million investment for a tech hub in Charlotte, creating 510 high-paying jobs.

 

Medical products manufacturer set for first North American facility in Winston-Salem

GMAX Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of medical products, will create 36 new jobs in Forsyth County. The company will invest $11.4 million to establish its first North American production facility in Winston-Salem.

 

Oklahoma

 

Vudoo picks OK

Vudoo Gun Works, a maker of precision rifles and firearms, announced the relocation of its headquarters and all manufacturing operations to Prague, Okla. The deal will create 60 jobs.

 

South Carolina

 

Materials science manufacturer investing $60 million in South Carolina

Arclin, a materials science company, announced it is expanding its operations in Dillon County. The company’s $60 million-plus investment will create over 30 new jobs. 

 

Pipe fabricator expanding in Spartanburg County

FabLogix, a pipe fabrication company, announced in the summer quarter it is expanding its operations in Spartanburg County. The company’s $9.8 million investment will create 150 new jobs. 

 

Nice investment in Laurens County, S.C. 

Brawo USA, Inc. (part of Brawo Group) and the Holding Umberto Gnutti (HUG) Group, which are global leaders in the brass and non-ferrous metals industry, announced a $23.2 million expansion of its Laurens County operations. The investment will create 24 new jobs.

 

Rolls Royce expands in Aiken

Rolls-Royce Solutions America Inc., a provider of off-highway engines and complete power generation systems, announced it is expanding its MTU engine manufacturing operations in Aiken County. The company’s $75 million investment will create 60 new jobs. 

 

Company's investment will create 60 new jobs in rural South Carolina

Fine Organics, a manufacturer of specialty additives, announced it has selected Union County, S.C., to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility. The company’s investment will create 60 new jobs. 

 

Tennessee

 

Uh, oh! Ford Motor Co. extends full production date of its Memphis area plant from 2027 to 2028

Ford officials in the summer quarter announced that full production at its BlueOval City plant near Memphis and Jackson, Tenn., will be delayed again. The battery plant and full assembly facility for the F-150 pickup truck has already been delayed once. It should be noted that both foreign and domestic automakers are losing billions as a direct result of tariffs. Ford CEO Jim Farley said at the delay announcement that the West Tennessee campus is a “linchpin” to the automaker’s future plans. 

 

Modular housing maker lands in rural Tennessee

BuildEx Modular will create 110 new jobs and invest $23.3 million in Fayetteville, Tenn. The company is acquiring and retrofitting an existing modular manufacturing facility to expand its capacity for high-quality modular housing, serving large developers and commercial clients across the Southern Middle Tennessee region.

 

Door manufacturer expands in Morristown, Tenn. 

Clayton Supply will invest $6.8 million and create 90 new jobs as part of an expansion project, nearly doubling its headcount in Hamblen County. The company’s current operation in Morristown, called Clayton Morristown Lux Doors, builds doors for all 40 Clayton Home Building Group homebuilding facilities in the U.S.

 

Vibrant Health Products selects Tennessee for its first U.S. manufacturing operations

Vibrant Health Products will create 394 new jobs and invest $48.5 million over the next five years in Fayette County in the former Kellogg’s Eggo facility, which closed in 2024. The company will begin operations with bread production for its U.S. customers with plans to expand its manufacturing capacity for additional products as the project progresses.

 

Little Leaf Farms to expand, selects Manchester for first Tennessee location

Little Leaf Farms will create 318 new jobs over five years and invest nearly $75 million at the Manchester Industrial Park in Coffee County. The company’s operations will be state of the art with new growing and manufacturing facilities that have the capacity to produce and distribute packaged leafy greens throughout the Midwest and Southeastern U.S.

 

Texas

 

Texas will benefit the most from Apple’s newly announced $600 billion investment in the U.S. 

California-based Apple Inc. announced its new American Manufacturing Program in early August. Existing chip plants and other suppliers in Texas -- like those in Austin, Sherman and Fort Worth -- are expected to get a big piece of Apple’s investment pie. 

 

Apple announces $500 million project to buy rare earth magnets from Fort Worth plant

Apple has struck a $500 million deal to buy rare earth magnets from Las Vegas-based MP Materials. The magnets will be developed from 100 percent recycled materials at MP Materials’ flagship manufacturing plant in Fort Worth. Magnet shipments are slated to begin in 2027, and will ramp up to support “hundreds of millions of Apple devices,” MP said.

 

Energy layoffs hit Houston hard

BP plans to eliminate thousands of positions globally by year-end 2025. Chevron will lay off 575 Houston employees; Shell reportedly aims to cut 20 percent of its workforce by the end of 2025, with a large portion of those in Houston. According to the Houston Business Journal, there may more cuts -- 7,000 by Schlumberger, about 10 percent of those in Houston; LyondellBasell, 345 jobs in Houston; NOV closed its facility permanently, laying off about 150; Marathon to lay off over 500 in Houston. 

 

New power plant west of Houston being considered

An entity known as EmberYork Energy Center LLC is considering investing between $750 million and $800 million to build a natural gas-fired power plant in Austin County, west of Houston. In the application, officials with the company said it could build a 900-megawatt natural gas power plant within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ Houston load zone, three miles south of Interstate 10 near Sealy.

 

Virginia

 

UK manufacturer to expand in Danville

UK-based WB Alloys is investing $6.6 million to expand its operations and open production in Virginia. The Danville facility will specialize in wire alloy production for the Navy and Department of Defense. The project will create 30 jobs.  

 

ORBCOMM to establish HQ in Northern Virginia

ORBCOMM, a global leader in industrial IoT (industrial internet of things) solutions, will establish its global headquarters in Sterling, Va., investing up to $3 million into skilled job creation and expanding into 22,000 square feet of office space.

 

IT firm expanding in Fairfax

22nd Century Technologies Inc., a leading IT services integrator and workforce solutions provider, will invest $1 million to expand its headquarters in Fairfax County and offices across Virginia.
